North End Garden Tour 2019

We are pleased to announce the return of the beloved North End Garden Tour! Neighbors and visitors will enjoy a self-guided stroll through some of the most unique gardens, farms, traffic islands, and nature preserves in the neighborhood.

The tour will include more than a dozen sites. Homeowners, farmers, and volunteers will be stationed at each garden to answer questions.

This year’s Garden Tour has been dubbed “The North End Garden & Traffic Island Tour” because it is a fundraiser for NENA’s new Traffic Island Beautification Project. All proceeds will go toward the planting and maintenance of traffic islands and chicanes throughout the North End. Some of these newly enhanced spots will be highlighted on the tour, as well!

The tour will run from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on June 2 and is open to everyone. Kanak Attack food truck will be on the route to keep your energy up. Invite your friends, family, and neighbors!

Tickets are $20 and available in advance at northendboise.org. (Kids under 10 are free.) Tickets and maps may be picked up at the first tour site, Downtown Teaching Farm, on the corner of Fort & 12th streets. We can accept cash and cards.

Free parking is available courtesy of Cathedral of the Rockies. Their paved lot is beside the Downtown Teaching Farm, at Hays & 12th streets. You may leave your car there and embark on the tour on foot, bike, or e-scooter. The entire neighborhood portion is a 4-mile-loop. You may choose to visit some or all of the sites, in whatever order you prefer. Those who choose not to drive will be entered into a raffle drawing for Draggin Wing Farm gift cards!

Additionally, Draggin’ Wing Farm is a “bonus site” on the tour, open to anyone who would like to visit. Draggin’ Wing has been an incredible partner to NENA in donating and helping us choose native and drought-tolerant plants to install in the traffic islands. Draggin’ Wing is located another 3 miles beyond the North End.
