Safe Streets for All

NENA's Safe Streets for All Committee is dedicated to collaborating with civic partners at the City of Boise, Ada County Highway District (ACHD), Boise Police Department, and other organizations to make meaningful improvements to the safety of North End neighborhood streets for the benefit of all users.

The Safe Streets for All Committee meets at 7pm on the second Monday of each month at Hyde Park Mennonite Fellowship, located at 1520 N 12th Street. Join us in person, or via Zoom.

Traffic Enforcement Recap: January

Thanks to North End Neighborhood Contact Officer Travis Buffi for attending the January meeting to share a recap of Boise Police efforts to enforce the new reduced Neighborhood Slow Zone speed limits. 

​

In January, there were 331 traffic stops conducted in the new Slow Zone, resulting in 128 warnings (a grace period gesture as drivers adjust to the new lower speed limits) and 44 citations issued. â€‹For more detailed data, review the full report:

What's the Latest?

NENA's February Safe Streets Committee meeting was held on Monday, February 9th.

Guest Speaker Deanna Smith presented information on the effectiveness of temporary traffic calming measures.

 

Deanna has 30+ years of experience as a neighborhood leader and 25+ as a transportation advocate, including all aspects of people-safe streets education and development. Deanna is a League Certified Instructor for Bike Safety Education, has a Complete Streets certificate from PSU, and co-lead Boise's National Street Service project for street activation.

ABOUT US

The North End Neighborhood Association (NENA) is a non-profit organization serving Boise’s Historic North End since 1976. NENA represents, preserves, and protects the historic, social, cultural, and environmental character of Boise’s North End neighborhood.

 

Anyone over the age of 18 who lives, works, owns a business, or owns property in the North End Neighborhood is eligible to become a member of NENA.
